How to Detect Dead Pixels

01

Dead vs Stuck Pixels

A dead pixel is permanently off (appears black on all colours). A stuck pixel is permanently on (shows a fixed colour). Stuck pixels are often fixable; dead pixels usually are not.

02

RGB Sub-pixel Testing

Each display pixel has red, green, and blue sub-pixels. A faulty sub-pixel shows as a wrong colour dot. Use the pure R, G, B solid fills to isolate individual sub-pixel failures.

03

Fullscreen is Essential

Click Fullscreen above and examine the entire panel methodically in a dark room. Browser UI elements, taskbars, and window chrome hide edge pixels when not in fullscreen mode.
