Online Ring Light for Makeup and Selfies
Set up a soft, even ring of light for applying makeup, taking selfies and recording quick videos, using any phone, tablet or laptop screen.
Quick makeup and selfie setup
- Open the virtual ring light on a phone or tablet, or on a laptop placed in front of you.
- Pick the Makeup preset (100% brightness, 5600K) for close-up work or Selfie (95%, 5200K) for photos.
- Switch the shape to Circle for a round eye catchlight.
- Use Preview Lighting if you want to see your face with the light in front of you. The preview stays in your browser and is not recorded.
Settings to try
| Goal | Preset or setting | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Application and blending | Makeup preset | Strong, neutral light shows blending |
| Natural selfie | Selfie preset, softness 20–30% | Soft shadows and a round catchlight |
| Warm evening look | Warm or Golden Hour preset | Flattering, but not for color matching |
| Check the final result | Daylight preset | Compare with a window if possible |
Color accuracy: an honest caveat
Screens do not render perfect white, and phone cameras adjust color automatically. If you are matching foundation or checking a bold shade, finish with a look in natural daylight. A screen ring is a free, convenient aid, not a color-critical tool.
Frequently asked questions
How close should I hold it?
Between about 25 and 50 cm for a phone or tablet, closer for a smaller screen. Closer light is brighter but can feel harsh, so soften or back up.
Does it work for makeup tutorials on camera?
It helps when the room is dim. For long recording sessions or bright rooms, a physical light has more output; see the comparison.
